Accessibility
How we're trying to make savmarketing.ca usable for everyone, what we've built in, what we know isn't perfect yet, and how to reach us.
Last updated:
01Our commitment
Sav Marketing is an Ontario business, and we want this website to work for as many people as possible — including people who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, need larger text or higher contrast, or prefer less motion.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as a working standard. We have not had an independent accessibility audit, so we don't claim full conformance with WCAG or with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. We'd rather tell you where we actually are and keep improving.
02What we've built in
Things that are in place today, and that we check as we build:
- Keyboard access. Every interactive part of the site can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline. There's a skip link to jump straight to the main content.
- The menu. The full-screen menu is a proper dialog: focus moves into it, stays inside it while it's open, Escape closes it, and focus returns to the button you opened it with. The rest of the page is hidden from assistive technology while it's open.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label tied to it, required fields are marked, and the store-owner application uses the right keyboard types on phones for email, phone, postal code and numbers. Buttons and checkboxes are sized for comfortable tapping.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we turn off the scroll animations, the sparkles and the store walkthrough, and show the end state instead. The 3D hero switches to a still composition.
- Images and illustration. Photographs and meaningful images have alternative text; decorative illustration is hidden from screen readers so it isn't read out as noise.
- Structure. Pages use real headings in order, real lists, real tables and landmark regions, so screen-reader navigation works.
- Readability. Article and policy text uses a comfortable size, generous line height and a limited line length, and the site works when you zoom in.
03The network map
The interactive map is a nice way to explore the network, but it is never the only way to get the information in it.
- Every location is also listed as plain text on the network page, grouped by city, with the full address.
- Each store has its own page with its address and details, reachable without touching the map.
- Map pins and clusters are real buttons with descriptive labels, so they can be reached by keyboard and read aloud.
- The zoom and reset controls have text labels for screen readers.
04Known limitations
Being honest about the rough edges we know about:
- Panning the map by keyboard relies on the map library's own controls and is more awkward than using the location list. Use the list — it has everything the map has.
- No independent audit yet. Our checks are internal. There may be issues we haven't found, particularly with less common assistive technology combinations.
- The 3D store on the home page is decorative and is not described in detail to screen readers; nothing in it is information you can't get from the rest of the site in text.
- Very large display text in some headings is deliberately oversized as part of the brand. If it's ever hard to read, the same information appears in normal-sized text nearby.
05Getting information another way
If anything on this site isn't accessible to you, we'll get it to you another way — by email, in a plain-text or large-print document, or over the phone. That includes store locations, placement details, package information and proposals.
Email hello@savmarketing.ca with what you need and the format that works for you. There's no charge for this.
06Telling us about a problem
Accessibility feedback is genuinely useful to us — it's usually how these things get found. If something didn't work, please email hello@savmarketing.ca and, if you can, include:
- The page you were on.
- What you were trying to do.
- What happened instead.
- The browser, device or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.
We'll acknowledge your message, tell you what we can do, and say when we expect to have it fixed.
07Ongoing work
We review accessibility when we build new pages and features rather than treating it as a one-time exercise. Improvements planned include better keyboard handling for the map, and an independent review before we launch the client dashboard.
This statement will be updated as things change; the date at the top shows when it last did.
